Building back home from abroad: 3 traps to avoid

Many in the diaspora send money home to build… and find, on delivery, something that doesn't match the dream. As a civil engineer, here are the 3 traps I see most often: 1. Starting without a detailed plan. "We'll figure it out on site" = guaranteed cost overruns and defects. 2. Handing supervision to an unqualified relative. Goodwill doesn't replace technical expertise. 3. Paying in big lump sums without validated milestones. Each payment should match controlled progress. The answer isn't to spend more — it's to frame it from the start: a clear plan, a realistic budget, competent supervision. Are you building (or dreaming of building) back home? Tell me in the comments which step worries you most.

From blueprint to screen: I design for the African reality

A civil engineer turned digital solutions creator, I work where two worlds meet: the built and the digital. Concretely, I help to: - Design modern house plans, built for the local climate, budget and materials. - Build websites and mobile apps that grow a business. - Automate tasks with AI to save time. My obsession: a concrete, lasting result — not something pretty that serves no purpose. Got a construction or digital project in mind? Let's talk — everything goes through Meyandy.

Your business deserves more than a Facebook page

A Facebook page is fine to exist. But you're renting land you don't own: rules change, reach drops, and your clients get lost in the feed. A website — even a simple one — is YOUR storefront: available 24/7, builds trust, found on Google, and turns a curious visitor into a client. To start without breaking the bank: - One clear page: who you are, what you do, proof (photos, reviews). - One goal per page: get contacted, sell, or book. - Up-to-date content — a dead site drives people away. You don't need the prettiest site. You need one that works for you while you sleep. Today, do you have: a website, just a page, or nothing at all?
